Announcement for Directorship of CWDS
The Centre for Women’s Development Studies (CWDS), New Delhi, – a premier autonomous research institute supported by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), is looking for scholars from the social sciences or humanities with an interest in women’s studies to be appointed as Director.
The Centre carries out research in women’s and gender studies, offers insights for policy formulation and participates in the relevant debates that are critical for contemporary India.
The candidate should be a Professor in the Social Sciences or Humanities with contributions to Women’s Studies, has a minimum of 5 years of service at the professor level, administrative abilities and proven leadership qualities and the capacity to guide the institution as per international standards. Research in women’s studies and the record of publications in the area are essential criteria for applying. The age of the candidate should be below 62 years as on the date of the advertisement. This is a tenured post. The initial appointment will be for three years. It is open to the Executive Committee of the Centre to consider an extension for another term of 3 years, subject to a maximum tenure up to the age of 65 years. The CWDS offers the Sixth Central Pay Commission scales of pay and allowances applicable to Professors up to the highest basic pay in the pay band (subject to change as per the Seventh Central Pay Commission’s implementation).
Pay Scale: Rs 37,400-67,000 (PB-4) Plus Academic Grade Pay of Rs. 10,000/-

The Search Committee will shortlist the applications of those candidates who fulfill the minimum advertised eligibility conditions. Shortlisted candidates will be called for consultations and/or discussions with the Search Committee. The Search Committee may also consider persons who have not applied but are found eligible with exceptional qualifications and experience for the position.
The Search Committee reserves the right: (i) to reject any application without assigning any reason; (ii) may relax the eligibility conditions in exceptional circumstances; and (iii) only shortlist the applications of those candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria. CWDS reserves the right to cancel the process of recruitment at any stage without assigning any reason.
