Project Title: “Life of North-east Women Workers and their Health Challenges: A study in a Metropolitan City, India”

About the Study

Many young women, in search of jobs or better livelihood, have been migrating from the North-east frontier of the country. Studies have showed that many young women from the region are working for services opportunities in organized and un-organized services sectors like retail stores and showrooms, hotels, beauty parlours, hospitals, call centres etc. in metro-cities particularly in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore etc. And many students on completion of the studies are also stay backed and work in these services. Unfortunately, they faced loads of issues and challenges, and also become vulnerable to harassment and other various kinds of discrimination in these metropolitan cities. Though with all these hardships and difficulties, migration of young women from this far-off region are steeply increasing in the recent past years as available literatures and reports have suggested. In these junctures, it finds necessary to examine the condition of health and well-being of migrant women from ethnically distinct region of north-east India living in metropolitan cities of the country.

Requirements

  • Post Graduate in Social Science, Anthropology and related disciplines having experienced in the fields of Public health related studies
  • Experience of conducting research project with data collection and analytical skill of social sciences research.
  • Good command of Hindi and English

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Review of secondary literatures, data collection through schedules and in-depth interviews
  • Translation and transcription of interviews.
  • Data processing and analysis, contribute to the writing of the report in consultation with the Co-Principal Investigator.
  • Any other work assigned by the Co-Principal Investigator related to the research project mentioned above.

Candidates from SC/ST and OBC communities and women are highly encouraged.

The applicant must commit to work full-time for the mentioned duration.

Remuneration – Salary is Rs.20000/- per month Consolidated; fieldwork travelling will be covered.
