Project Name: Exploring Cyber Crime against women: Trends and contributing factors
Call for Research Assistant – 1 Post (On Contract)
Duration: 45 days (February – March 2025)
About the Project
The rapid expansion of internet access and digital technologies in India has revolutionized communication and information access. However, this digital transformation has also introduced significant challenges, particularly regarding the safety and security of women in online spaces. Cyber Crime against women is an increasingly concerning issue, with rising instances of online harassment, cyber- stalking, revenge porn, and unauthorized use of personal data.
Despite the seriousness of these issues, there is a noticeable lack of comprehensive research that thoroughly explores the nature, prevalence, and impact of cyber-crimes against women in India. This research project aims to conduct an in-depth study to understand the patterns and factors contributing to cybercrime against women except the financial cybercrimes. By examining the vulnerabilities that women face in online spaces and the socio-cultural factors influencing these vulnerabilities, this study seeks to contribute valuable insights to ongoing efforts aimed at enhancing digital safety for women in India.
