Project: Muslim Women and Political Participation: Subjectivity, Equality, Difference
Call for Research Assistant: 1 Post (Contractual)
No. of Positions: One
Duration: 3 Months (Salary: Rs.37,000 per month)
This is a small pilot study in Delhi on the interface between legal/constitutional equality, religious difference, and gender identity with reference to Muslim women’s political participation. Dominant narratives seldom acknowledge Muslim women as political subjects in their own right; their invisibility is normatively ascribed to an essentialised Muslim difference. The study seeks to unsettle and decentre such narratives by foregrounding Muslim women’s subjective experiences, concerns, and expressions of political agency.
