Project: Social and Economic Attributes of Time Allocation and Time Poverty of Women: Analysis of TUS 2019 and 2024
Call for the Post of Consultant (Data Analyst ) 1 Post (On Contract)
Duration: 5 months (November 2025 – March 2026)
About the Project
Time use surveys provide rich data on how individuals spent their time which has implications for future policies. After many years of advocating for time use surveys, two surveys were conducted in a span of 5 years, in 2019 and 2024 and the data is available for all the major states. Gender difference in time spent on different activities can point to the social/familial understanding of the roles and responsibilities of men and women. It can also give much required insights into the understanding of time poverty, quality of life and wellbeing. In this context the study aims to:
- To analyse the key determinants of participation and time allocation patterns of women and men, examining how social, economic, and demographic factors shape distribution of time and its changes over time.
- To analyse the interconnections at the disaggregate level, between unpaid domestic work, care work, paid work, rest and leisure, exploring how these relationships shape time allocation among women and men and their implications.
- To examine the intensity of work and time stress of women through detailed analysis of multiple/simultaneous activities at a disaggregate level.
