Recruitment of Project Staff-2025/12

Project: Endometriosis Voices: Women’s Everyday Lives and Treatment Experiences in Cities of India

Call for Research Assistant: 1 post (On Contract)

Duration: 3 months (November 2025 – January 2026)

About the Project

Over this decade, there has been an increased focus on endometriosis. Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory, systemic disease that affects the pelvic area and can spread extensively to other body organs and tissues (Taylor et al., 2021). Endometriosis is a public health concern affecting approximately 247 million women worldwide and 42 million women in India. Around 10% of women of reproductive age are affected with endometriosis, which is 1/6th of the Global burden (Dalvi, 2025).

In low-middle-income contexts like India, there is dearth of narrative on endometriosis and the magnitude of problems and barriers women face continue to remain under researched. Accounts of how women navigate endometriosis over the years of delay and how the chronicity of endometriosis impacts the life course from menarche to menopause is very much required to be understood to develop support mechanism and care models for women. The research aims to understand how women confront this over the years, the impact of endometriosis on women’s daily lives, encompassing social, cultural, participation in work, emotional well-being, and employment aspects. It also seeks to explore the support systems they receive or lack, their coping mechanisms both within the household and outside, the healthcare-seeking pathways, and their experiences with these services and their financial impact.
